SHATTUCK FFA OFFICER SPOTLIGHT

By: Ezabela Herber

SHATTUCK, OKLAHOMA- Shattuck FFA officer Cindy Lara is the next officer in the spotlight.Cindy, a Junior at Shattuck High School, is Shattuck FFA’s Chapter Sentinel. Cindy has grown up in Shattuck her whole life. She has been immersed in the world of agriculture since she can remember. Her father has worked his whole life around cattle, and now she gets to do the same alongside her father. When asked what made her decide to join FFA Cindy responded, “When in high school, both of my siblings were involved in the FFA. This made me so excited to be an FFA member and want to work towards, one day, being an officer. Now, I get to do just that alongside some of my best friends. My father’s cattle operation has also made a big impact on me growing up in the farming/ranching industry to join the FFA.”  Lara has been active in FFA since her first day as a member. She currently is active in livestock judging and vet science. She has gone to numerous vet science and livestock judging contests throughout her time as a member. With Cindy being so active in FFA, I wanted to ask what her favorite memory made in FFA so far was. She responded, “My favorite memory has to be all the trips we have made around the state, traveling to different competitions. I love being able to go compete in contests that I have such a large passion for and being able to do so with some of my closest friends.” I asked Cindy if she could give an upcoming FFA member advice, what would it be. Her response was, “Join! Join! Join! FFA has made a huge impact in my life and has given me so many leadership opportunities that I would not be able to find anywhere else.” Lara is making sure to make the most of her Junior year here at Shattuck.  When asked what FFA means to her, and how it has changed her life, Cindy responded with, “FFA to me means stepping out of your comfort zone and doing things you would have never imagined, that eventually transform you into a leader. It has changed my life by introducing me to lifelong friends and has taught me numerous valuable life lessons.” Shattuck FFA is well represented by their Chapter Sentinel. Thank you Cindy for sharing your FFA experience!
