SHATTUCK FFA UPDATE

SHATTUCK,OKLAHOMA - Shattuck FFA prepares for upcoming spring contests. Despite Mother Nature’s attempts to return us all to the Ice Age, the Shattuck FFA chapter has been heating things up in the welding shop. All projects are in full construction mode in preparation for exhibitions at fast approaching contests beginning with the Woodward District show on Saturday February 17th. Students in grades 8th -12th will have entries on display to be scored by a panel of judges; from there, they will take their projects to be entered in the Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) in March.

Shattuck FFA members are also busy preparing for upcoming CDE contests. On February 7th, students from across the state will convene as the Shattuck FFA will once again host the Great Western Shootout Junior CDE contest at the Woodward County Fairgrounds. CDEs, or Career Development Event, will contain a series of written tests within Agricultural related categories. Students will compete individually as well as teams depending on the category of competition.

While on the subject of CDE, the Shattuck FFA vet science teams, are preparing to bring home some hardware this season as they enter into spring CDE contests, which have already begun online. Senior Vet Science team member Sydney Melton says, “I’m ready for this season to really get going. I feel much more prepared since I have been through the vet assistant program with High Plains, and am currently working my clinical hours with Ellis County Animal Hospital.Im excited about this season!”

As we move closer the February, FFA members are also working hard on state degree applications, proficiency applications, scholarships, State FFA Convention Choir applications, and more! As always, follow Shattuck FFA on Facebook for updates on chapter events. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Shattuck Ag Booster Annual Dinner & Auction,  January 29th at 6:00 pm in the High School cafeteria.
