GOODWELL, OKLAHOMA - On Tuesday, November 14th, Shattuck ag students traveled to Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma to compete in their annual CDE contest. The contest consisted of several events including livestock judging, ag mech, floriculture, meats, ag communications, farm business management, food science, crop identification, electricity, and a public speaking contest. Several Shattuck FFA members were successful in their respective events. Sydney Melton was 1st high individual in livestock judging. Caitlin Laverty was 1st high individual in Farm Business Management. Madison Sanchez McDonald was 2nd high individual in Vet Science. She was also part of the 1st place Vet Science team along with Cindy Lara, Leah Taylor and Sydney Melton. Kaleb Berends was 1st high individual in Natural Resources. Colten Jones was the 2nd high individual in Ag Mechanics Shop, Tate Charmasson also placed 3rd high individual in Ag Mechanics Shop contest. Logan Morrow was 1st high, Alex Lopez was 2nd high, and Jaxson Anderson was 3rd high in the Electricity contest. Shattuck also had multiple team placings. The Ag Mechanics team placed 1st and the Floriculture team was 3rd place. Shattuck’s Electricity teams were 1st and 2nd high, with both Ag Communications teams taking 2nd and 3rd place.

This year's contest was split into two days, this allowed the speeches to take place on Monday, November 13th. We had an amazing group of public speakers this year and their results prove it. Andrew Quisenberry placed 2nd place in 8th grade Ag Exploration with his speech. Cindy Lara took the 3rd place spot with her speech in the Ag Policy division. Sydney Melton snagged the 2nd place spot with her Animal Science speech. Last, but certainly not least, Caitlin Laverty took the 5th place spot with her Natural Resources speech. Overall, Shattuck had a successful two days competing at Oklahoma Panhandle State and we thank everyone that put together a great contest!
