SHATTUCK FFA OFFICERS TRAVEL TO INDIANA FOR THE 96TH ANNUAL NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - On Wednesday, November 1st, Shattuck FFA traveled to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention. Several students, along with the Quisenberry family, and advisor Chris Kelln, made the trip to support Shattuck alum Eric Quisenberry in receiving his American FFA Degree. As an added bonus to the trip, Shattuck FFA learned shortly before they left, that Mr. Kelln would also be receiving an award, the Honorary American FFA Degree.
The group headed to convention early Friday morning for Mr. Kelln to receive his award during the first general session. Shattuck students back home watched the livestream of the event and cheered on Mr. Kelln as his name was announced for his achievement. Friday evening, the group ate at St. Elmo’s steakhouse, a landmark in Indianapolis, and a restaurant known nationwide for their service and food. St. Elmo’s even printed custom menus for the group with the Shattuck FFA logo across the top. Shattuck Junior Cindy Lara said, “This was definitely an experience I will never forget. I don’t know if I’ll ever have a steak that good again in my life!” Everyone agreed this was the culinary highlight of the trip.
Saturday morning it was Eric Quisenberry’s turn to stand in the spotlight to receive his American FFA degree. As his friends and family cheered from their seats in the massive Lucas Oil Stadium, Eric received the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, and his last award as a Shattuck FFA member. Quisenberry represented Shattuck FFA well during his time as a member, and we are proud of his accomplishments!
