SHATTUCK FFA OFFICER SPOTLIGHT

By: Ezabela Herber

SHATTUCK, OKLAHOMA- School is back in session and Shattuck FFA spotlights another chapter officer. Tate Charmasson, Shattuck FFA’s Ag Olympic Co-Chairman, is a Senior at Shattuck High School.  Tate has grown up in Northwest Oklahoma, along with his three  siblings, and has always been involved in agriculture. Tate’s father, Chris Charmasson, was an Ag teacher in Laverne. When asked what made him decide to join FFA Tate responded, “My whole family is involved in FFA. With my dad once being an Ag teacher, it has always heavily influenced me to show goats and be active in FFA.” Charmasson has been active in FFA since his first day as a member. He currently shows goats and has continued to spend numerous hours in the welding shop preparing for competitions. With Tate being so active in FFA, I decided to ask him what his favorite memory made in FFA so far was. He responded, “My favorite memory would have to be when Mr.Kelln decided to load up all of us junior boys and take us to San Antonio to visit their Ag mechanics contest. There were lots of amazing projects we all got to see that we hadn’t seen before. It was an awesome time and we made a lot of memories.” I asked Tate if he could give an upcoming FFA member advice, what would it be. He responded, “For all the new FFA members, my best piece of advice I can give you is to get involved. It doesn’t matter what it is, get involved and stay involved. Do as much as you can, it will benefit you so much in the end.” Now that Tate’s senior year has officially begun, he is making sure to soak up all the time he has left to spend with his fellow members, as well as enjoy all the competitions he is able to compete in. When asked what FFA means to him, and how it has changed his life, Charmasson responded with, “To me FFA is so much more than just an organization. You will learn so many life skills that will benefit you greatly in the future. I have made countless friendships throughout my experience, and I know I will carry those relationships with me for the rest of my life. ” Shattuck FFA is well represented by our Chapter Ag Olympic Chairman. Thank you Tate for sharing your FFA experience!
