Shattuck FFA Wraps Up Another Successful Year

By: Erika Meier, Shattuck FFA Reporter

This year has been filled with fun and success for Shattuck FFA. Our livestock showers began working hard on projects this summer before the school year began. We kicked the fall semester off with a swim party, hosting the more than 20 new 8th grade FFA members, and welcoming back all former Shattuck chapter members. We accomplished many things this semester, and are looking forward to next year.  Shortly after our school year began, we also hosted our annual Shattuck FFA Ag Olympics at the Manske farm. This is always a student and community favorite, filled with fun and a lot of entertaining competition! Later in the fall, our FFA members competed in the Woodward Livestock Judging show, the Ellis County Fair, the Oklahoma State Fair, Oklahoma State Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest, and the Oklahoma Panhandle State University CDE contest.

We also competed in various CDE’s, such as Meat Judging, Food Science, Prepared Public Speaking, and several more. Looking back on this summer and fall, there were many awards won, and a lot of hard work involved. With the new year coming up, FFA members are working to prepare for the many CDE contests they will compete in. Hard work is taking place in the shop for the AG Mechanics contests approaching this spring, and the livestock showers continue to work hard to get prepared for the upcoming busy stock show season. Even with all the accomplishments from the 2019 year, Shattuck FFA looks to achieve more success in 2020. Great job Shattuck FFA!
