SHATTUCK FFA CONTEST UPDATE

SHATTUCK, OKLAHOMA - The Shattuck FFA students have continued to stay very busy competing in various competitions over the past few weeks. On March 23, the team traveled to Chickasha to judge livestock. Sydney Melton placed 7th individually, and as a team, Sydney, Bela Herber, Cindy Lara, and Sadey Schoenhals, placed 13th. On March 25th, they traveled to Eastern Oklahoma State University and judged livestock again. Sydney Melton placed 6th individually and the team placed 7th overall. On March 28th, a group of Shattuck students traveled to Northwestern Oklahoma State University to compete in a CDE contest. Drew Taylor placed 2nd individually in Natural Resources. Ezabela Herber placed 2nd individually in Farm Business Management. Ethan Lookingbill, Eric Quisenberry, Clayton Washmon, Mason Magness, and Jesus Hernandez placed 1st as a team in Ag Mechanics. Shortly after, the livestock judging team was on the road once again, heading to Connors State College on April 6th. Sydney Melton placed 9th individually, and the team placed 12th overall. The team was able to take a small break from judging before competing again in Woodward, Oklahoma at “The Buckle” competition on April 9th.  Clayton Washmon was high Sr. Swine Individual.  The team of Sydney Melton, Bela Herber, Sadey Schoenhals, and Cindy Lara place 4th in the Jr. FFA Division.  The team of Kelton Spillman, Keegan Spillman, Andrew Quisenberry, and Ona Rakestraw place 5th in the Jr. 4H Division.  This contest brought more than 450 students to Woodward, and all Shattuck kids placed in the top 50 individually.  Shattuck FFA will continue to travel to livestock judging contests, and is preparing for upcoming speech competitions.  The upcoming weeks are busier than ever as the end of the school year approaches.
