SHATTUCK LEARNS ATV SAFETY

By: Ezabela Herber

SHATTUCK, OKLAHOMA - On Monday October 31st, Mike Klumpp and Ty Sullivan presented the ATV Ride Safe Oklahoma program to the Shattuck High School and Shattuck Middle School. ATV Ride Safe Oklahoma is a joint initiative led by The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital, Trauma One Injury Prevention at OU Medical Center and Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Service 4-H Youth Development. Their goal is to provide safety education and injury prevention information related to all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), also known as four-wheelers and quads. Klumpp and Sullivan are very passionate about what they do, and work to ensure the safety of kids across the state. This course covered everything from wearing proper gear, to the right size ATV for your body type, and all the safety protocols to remember while riding. Ride Safe Oklahoma also offers an online safety course, as well as rider training courses in which students learn while actually riding an ATV.  It was a fantastic presentation that made an impact on all students in attendance. Shattuck FFA would also like to thank the Manske Cattle Company for sponsoring this program and helping us to bring such a great educational opportunity to our students.  We appreciate the continued support from the Manske family!
