SHATTUCK FFA HOSTS ANNUAL AG OLYMPICS
By: Ezabela Herber
SHATTUCK,OKLAHOMA – On September 7th, the Shattuck FFA held their annual AG Olympics. The Ag Olympics was created in 2017, and over the years we have added and changed the various events at the contest. This year’s Olympics consisted of eight teams, each led by the Shattuck FFA Officers and the Ag Olympics Chairman, Karsen Stevens. All members who are enrolled in ag classes were drafted onto one of the eight teams. Participants showed up in spirit, wearing their designated team colors, and most were adorned in quite a bit of body paint. The night consisted of seven events, including an egg toss, chicken chase, goat roping, tool relay, watermelon eating contest, hog calling, and the highly anticipated, mud pit tug-o-war. Officer Jadyn’s Washmon’s Pink Team came out as the victors in this year’s contest. Washmon said, “the whole team fought hard for a win, but we couldn’t have done it without Kalen Berends as our tug-o-war anchor, and our watermelon contestant.” Berends, a freshman, is new to Shattuck FFA. Several students were new to the games this year, and we were happy to welcome them and their parents to our Olympic tradition. At the end of all the fun, the teams and their families enjoyed some delicious burgers, prepared for them by several Shattuck FFA parents. We would like to thank everyone who showed up to support our FFA members. We would also like to give a huge thank you to the Manske family for hosting and helping us to prepare for our event at their farm again this year.
