SHATTUCK FFA ATTENDS OYE AG MECHANICS CONTEST

By Ezabela Herber

OKLAHOMA CITY - A group of Shattuck FFA Ag Mechanics students traveled to the Oklahoma Youth Expo Ag Mech contest in OKC on Tuesday, March 8th.  Eric Quisenberry, Jesus Hernandez, Bela Herber, Jarek Fitz, Tate Charmasson, Mason Magness, and Ellis Co. 4 H members Kelton and Keegan Spillman, competed with projects they’ve been working on for the past several months.  This was the third year for the contest, and hundreds of students from across the state participated.  Students were required to complete a portfolio, marketing flier, and interview process.  Projects range from wildlife displays, trailers, decor, and more.  Contest superintendent Jerry Renshaw said, “Adding this contest in addition to the livestock show presents more opportunities to ag programs across the state and adds yet another way for OYE to showcase the diverse talents and hardwork of Oklahoma students.”    From Shattuck, Keegan Spillman placed 3rd in his class, and Bela Herber was 3rd in her class, making the sale of projects.  Jesus Hernandez was Reserve Champion in the “Ag Product' Division”, and Mason Magness and Tate Charmasson were Champions in the “Outdoor Recreation” Division.  Eric Quisenberry was the Champion in the “Livestock” Division, and the Overall Bronze Medallion winner.  Quisenberry was also featured on the OYE social media pages in a video over the amazing work he put into his project.  Scan the QR code below to see the video on Facebook.
